Bollywood song for England

Wednesday, June 14, 2006

A 14 year old Northolt, England girl with Muscular Distrophy, and Cerebal Palsy, has written a song with a Bollywood twist to show support for her 2 favorite things - World Cup football and Bollywood music.

Anjali Solanki enlisted the help of her father, Bollywood choreographer and dancer Jay Kumar to write the anthem for England to take to the World Cup.

'It's the Time for England' is a remake of the Bollywood song 'It's the Time to Disco' from the hit film 'Kal Ho Naa Ho'.

"We were playing around with a few songs, but nothing really grabbed us," said Jay, 43, "and then Angali suggested 'Time to Disco' and started writing the lyrics. This is not just an Asian song, but a song for everyone."

Featuring Melissa Bell from Soul II Soul, and Nisha Patel of Rayners Lane, the footbal anthem has been released to raise money for Muscular Distrophy and for UNICEF, and has been played on the BBC Asian Network, Sunrise Radio, and national UK radio stations.

You can purchase 'Its the Time for England' in HMV and Virgin stores across England. For more information see www.jaykumardance.com.
