Bollywood's Aishwarya Rai to wed Abhishek Bachchan

Putting an end to all kinds of media speculation, it has been announced that the former Miss World and leading Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai and fellow Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan are in fact engaged, following a Sunday evening ceremony which took place at Aishwarya's Mumbai home. The families of both actors were present.

Rumours have been building since the couple visited a Hindu temple in November.

Abhishek Bachchan is the son of Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan.

The families have been tight-lipped about the relationship. Even after the small engagement ceremony, both parties were maintaining their silence.

Aishwarya Rai is one of Bollywood's top actresses, having starred in several hit movies over the past few years, and has been serveral times referred to as "The Most Beautiful Woman in the World". Rai was featured on the cover of Time magazine in 2003 as Bollywood's Leading Lady and has been interviewed by Oprah Winfrey and David Letterman.

Bachchan has also starred in several successful films, and was voted "The Sexiest Asian Man" by a British newspaper last year.

Rai and Bachchan have co-starred together in several films including last year's worldwide hit film "Guru".

In the past, Aishwarya has been linked to other Bollywood actors, including Salman Khan and Vivek Oberoi, while Bachchan was previously engaged to Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor, but the marriage was called off.

Rumours now have it that Aishwarya will leave the movie industry to start her family.

While I wish her nothing but happiness for her future regardless, I am also hoping we can see her pretty face on the silver screen a few more times.
